Men's track and field obtains two titles at Principia

ELSAH, Ill. -- The men's track and field team got winning performances from Jonah Peoples and the 4x800 meter relay team as they competed at Principia on Friday and Saturday.
Peoples posted the event's second best time of the preliminaries in the 60 meter hurdles with a heat-leading time of 8.63 seconds. In the finals, Peoples won the event by two hundredths of a second as he completed the race in 8.35 seconds.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Nathan Allyn, Nathan Potts, Andrew Sharp, and Parker Wray placed first with a 8:14.57, cruising to a victory by over 27 seconds.
Two entries were second in their event. Sharp posted a 1:07.14 in the 500 meter run, and the distance medley team comprised of Allyn, Wray, Jaylon Shelton, and John Mangold finished in 10:57.42.
A group of four individuals and a relay team gave Greenville fourth place marks.
Jarrid William leapt 6.55 meters in the long jump for his fourth place finish.
Mitchell Hooten missed the school record by three inches as he had a 15.40 meter shot put mark.
Ryan Burgess provided a top mark of 15.41 meters in the weight throw to better his previous best by over one foot.
Matt Hughes finished the 300 meter dash in 37.93 seconds.
Greenville's second distance relay team of Sharp, Hughes, Potts, and Robert Goin placed fourth with a time of 11:09.40.
The Panthers will send their multi-event competitors to Illinois Wesleyan on Friday, and the team will compete at Illinois College on Saturday.
