Lisa Amundson Receives 2017 Outstanding Faculty Award

Associate Professor of Special Education Lisa Amundson received the W. Richard Stephens Outstanding Faculty Award for 2017 during the 10 a.m. Commencement service, May 27, 2017.
Students initiate the nomination process by submitting essays about nominees. Prior awardees review the essays and make recommendations to the Board of Trustees, who make the final selection.
Amundson teaches, advises and mentors students in the Colleges undergraduate and graduate teacher education programs.
She is loved by students and respected by her colleagues for her dynamic classroom presence, loving demeanor and Christ-like attitude, Provost Edwin Estevez told the audience.
He quoted a sampling of students praising Amundsons high standards of excellence and loving heart, for instance:
- Dr. Amundson works to create a safer, kinder world by educating students in what it means to be tolerant and inclusive, not only in the classroom, but in their lives.
- Dr. Amundsons passion for her discipline comes from a deep commitment to Christ and the call to be peacemakers and Kingdom-bringers in the world.
Recipients of the Outstanding Faculty Award demonstrate passion for their disciplines and cultivate meaningful connections with students. They evidence strong Christian commitment, actively integrate faith with learning and exhibit high expectations for excellence in the classroom.
