Wilderness Ministry Advocate and Author to Speak at Greenville University

Ashley Denton, director of theWilderness Ministry Institute and chief operations officer of Nexus International, a global leader in student ministry development, will visit Greenville University April 8 to share his passion for and insight about the wilderness experience.

Wilderness Ministry Advocate and Author to Speak at Greenville UniversityHe will speak on The Sleeping Bag and the Riddle: Wilderness and Our Souls Deepest Desires in chapel at 9:30 a.m. in Whitlock Music Center. A 3:30 p.m. colloquium sponsored by the Zahniser Institute will feature his presentation Wilderness for Everyone Everywhere: The Relationship Between Wilderness and Closeness With God in Snyder Hall, Room 104. Both events are free and open to the public.

Denton is the author of Christian Outdoor Leadership: Theology, Theory and Practice andThe Personality of Jesus: How to Introduce Young People to Jesus Christ and Help Them Grow in Their Faith.

He holds a doctorate in missions and cross-cultural studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a masters in theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and a bachelors in landscape architecture from University of Arizona.

His unique ministry has touched persons in over 62 countries by encouraging and equipping leaders of indigenous peoples with skills to introduce young people to Jesus Christ through relational youth ministry mixed with outdoor adventure.

In addition to his roles with Wilderness Ministry and Nexus, he currently serves as a volunteer pastor atMountain View Community Churchand as professor of outdoor leadership atDenver SeminaryandColorado Christian University.

Denton resides in Fort Collins, Colorado, with his wife Becky and their five children.
