The Show Must Go On... Online

COVID-19 could not stop the majesty of HandelsMessiahand the well-honored tradition of its December performance.

Alumni and friends of Greenville University can view the 90th performance of George Frideric HandelsMessiahpresented online this year by the Greenville Choral Union and Orchestra.

With COVID-19 safety precautions in mind, the decision to go online was made by Dr. Don Frazure, in consultation with Dr. Terrell Carter, who manages facilities and COVID-19 protocols for hosting people on campus.

Paul Sunderland, GUs music department chair, and Dr. Frazure researched ways to safely rehearse, and ended up purchasing a mask especiallydesigned for singers.

Directing the Messiah this year is GUs new interim choral director, Dr. Don Frazure. The reduced orchestra and small but mighty choir is joined by Greenville Universitys accompanist Rebecca Koebe. Also a part of the performance this year are GU Sophomore Marissa Horning, a Worship Arts and Ministry major, and Vocal Music Instructor Grace Denton.
