New Scholarship Honors the Memory of Allyson Grabowski

A new scholarship fund established by anonymous donors honors the memory of Allyson Grabowski 20, who passed away last July from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The Allyson Grabowski Memorial Fund supports two scholarships awarded annually to students who reflect the leadership skills, kindness, and Christian character that defined Allyson.

• The Allyson Grabowski Bio/Chem Award, a $1,000 scholarship, will go to a rising Greenville University senior who demonstrates these character qualities and majors inbiologyand/orchemistry.

• The Allyson Grabowski STEM Scholarship, a $1,000 award, will go to an incoming student who demonstrates these character qualities and majors in one of thenatural sciences,engineering, ormathematics. This scholarship is potentially renewable. Preference will be given to a female from Nashville, IL (Allysons hometown), or another small town.

Awardees will be able to use the funds beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.

Allyson graduated from Nashville Community High school in 2016. She proved herself an academic standout at GU, earning a 3.99 GPA while pursuing a double major in biology and chemistry. With her sights set on medical school, she belonged to theTriBetaandMcAllasterHonors Societies.

Allyson played in 99volleyballmatches as a GU Lady Panther and lettered for three years. She contributed to two regular season conference championships and three conference tournament championships. She also participated in three NCAA tournaments.

The statistics behind Allysons academic and athletic excellence, however, take a back seat to her character, grace, and example of a life well-lived. She showed that ambition and aspiration can co-exist with kindness and generosity.
