Greenville College to Host Career Fair

Published: April 13, 2021

GCs Coordinator of Career Services Kelli Pryor is pleased to announce that Greenville College will host a career fair on April 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Crum Recreation Center on campus. To date, 60 businesses have reserved space.

The fair is open to members of the community as well as students.

Attendees can expect to engage in conversations with local employers as well as employers from throughout the Midwest. Participating organizations represent nonprofits, manufacturing, health care, sales, sports management and marketing, social services and others.

Confirmed participants include Hershey Company, Gateway Region YMCA, Bass-Mollett Publishers, Illinois State Police, OneWay Ministries, River City Rascals, Gateway Grizzlies Baseball, Bond County Housing Authority, Greenville Police Department, Complete St. Louis and the Illinois Department of Transportation.

This is a great annual event for attendees to meet many different people from a variety of businesses all in one venue, explains Pryor. Her team is excited and ready to welcome job seekers from the college and community and connect them with organizations that are in the process of building and enhancing a workforce.

Tips For Students

Alexa Campbell 15, administrative assistant in the Colleges Briner School of Business and co-organizer of the fair, recommends that students dress professionally and bring several copies of their resumes.

She advises, Be sure to come willing to talk to people, even if they are not from your desired industry, and keep an open mind with all recruiters."

Current student Whitney Vitt 17, student assistant with career services and co-organizer of the fair, recommends that students not bypass this opportunity to meet potential employers, practice communication skills and build connections at the same time.

If I could do college over again, I would go to every career fair I had the opportunity to, says Vitt.

Career Fair a Win-Win for College and Community

As executive director of Greenvilles Chamber of Commerce, Kami Seuss 16 also facilitated collaboration on the fair to ensure a rewarding experience for local businesses.

She says that the fair gives Chamber members a chance to promote their businesses and network with others on a professional level, adding, Anytime the town and college can join together to better the community, it is a great opportunity.
