Greenville College Accepting Entries for Live Arts Contest

Published: April 13, 2021

Greenville College Accepting Entries for Live Arts ContestGreenville College is hosting a contest for high school and college students interested in a variety of forms of artistic expression. The Live Arts Contest is accepting entries through March 3 for short fiction, non-fiction, poetry and song lyrics, visual art, cartoons and graphic stories, and serialized novels. The Live Arts Contest provides an opportunity for creative expression. The winners receive cash prizes along with the chance to be published in The Vista and The Scriblerus both produced by GC.

Art allows young people to explore and express their views of the world, said Alexandria LaFaye, associate professor in the Language, Literature, and Culture Department at GC. This contest gives young artists an opportunity to showcase their work amongst the work of other artists.

High school and college students interested in the Live Arts Contest can submit entries and learn more about the categories by visiting www.greenville.edu/academics/live_arts_contest. Winners will be announced in April. High school and college entries will be judged separately. First and second place will be awarded for each genre of art, and a grand prize will be awarded to the top high school entry as well as the top college entry.

God made each of us with unique talents that we can use to make the world a better place, so my number one tip is to let your individuality shine, said LaFaye. It is also essential to know your craft and study good techniques.
