#GivingTuesday GU: Benn Jane '23

Soccer-blackWEB.pngI choose GU, where I can count on outstanding preparation in criminal justice plus Panther soccer.

GU offered everything Panther Preferred Scholar Benn Jane ’23 wanted in a university: excellent degree programs in criminal justice and Spanish, a culture that values diversity, and a soccer program that allows him to pursue the sport he loves.

Unfortunately, financial concerns cast a cloud of uncertainty over his plans to pursue higher education. He wasn’t sure he could swing four years of undergrad tuition at GU—until the Panther Preferred Scholarship opportunity came.

“I was very worried about the financials,” Benn remembers. “The Panther Preferred Scholarship made it more affordable to get a good degree.”

He still remembers the phone call that informed him of his scholarship. “I was immensely relieved . . . without [the scholarship] my life would look a lot different right now.”

Benn hopes to join the Illinois State Police after graduation and ultimately move to Miami, Florida, to continue his law enforcement career.
