Agreement gives Restore Network affiliates priority access to Greenville University Champion Scholarship

Published: May 17, 2023

An agreement between Greenville University and The Restore Network grants all students affiliated with The Restore Network who meet admissions requirements acceptance into the Champions Scholarship Program at Greenville University.

At Greenville University, we recognize that there are students deserving of recognition based on what they have been able to overcome in their lives. This GU-sponsored $19,000 Champion Scholarship is named for Robert “Ish” Smith, former coach and president of Greenville University. He challenged students to be their best and knew they had it in them, sometimes before they knew it themselves. We want to recognize champions, just like “Ish” did.

The Champion Scholar is one who

  • has displayed determination in pursuit of their education;
  • who has shown they can overcome hardship – be it physical, mental, emotional, or otherwise;
  • doesn’t let their circumstances defeat or define them. They keep going;
  • inspire others because of their grit and perseverance;
  • have proven they can excel because they don’t quit.

The Restore Network is a community of God’s people recruiting and supporting foster families while advocating for a better system for kids.

“Greenville University has been personally impacted by The Restore Network and organizations like them throughout our college community,” says Victoria Clark, GU’s chief enrollment officer. “Our President has fostered and adopted; I am currently a foster parent and there are several in our college community who support The Restore Network. We want these children to have the opportunity to have their lives empowered for Christ-like character and service, for people to walk alongside them and see the champion God created them to be.”

Now available for the fall 2023 semester, affiliates of The Restore Network will receive priority access to the Champion Scholarship. Students must gain acceptance from Greenville University. Any student applying must be a degree-seeking student, live on campus, and be enrolled full-time (minimum of 12 credit hours per semester). This scholarship cannot be combined with other GU merit-based financial aid offerings.

There is limited space in this program and all interested students are encouraged to begin the admissions application as soon as possible.
