Pay Rate: $9.50/hour. Job Description:Greenville University's Student Success Center offers GU students a variety of resources in order to thrive academically. One of those resources that we offer is Supplement Instruction which is a free peer led academic assistance program that was created to help students succeed in Greenville University’s most difficult courses. SI targets difficult academic courses that have a high rate of D or F grades and withdrawals. As a SI leader, your job will consist of participating as a traditional student within a course and providing peer support. Some other responsibilities include collaborating with faculty to organize and deliver additional study sessions for students and meeting in a small group and assisting students in learning course material. Primary Responsibilities:Primary Responsibilities: Attend the targeted class, take notes, and participate in discussions. Ascertain course requirements and maintain contact throughout the term with the course professor. Actively recruit participants for SI sessions. Conduct a full 50-minute weekly session for each of your assigned sections throughout the term. Be prepared and be on time for each SI session. Be familiar with campus resources available to students. Plan SI sessions using a wide variety of the interactive learning strategies (without re-teaching, lecturing or completing students’ assignments for them). Prepare handouts, informal quizzes, and other learning aids for SI sessions. Maintain a professional attitude at all times. Administrative Responsibilities: Attend monthly SI leader training meeting. Collect attendance data survey for every session and turn it in weekly. (Online) Submit weekly lesson plans by 10 pm on the Sunday before the scheduled SI sessions. Follow all procedures and policies set by the Student Success Center. Seeking SI leaders for Courses Below: Bible (BIBLE 205, BIBLE 215). Business Management (BUSN 101). Digital Media (DMDA 120). English (ENGL 105). General Biology 1 (BIOL 110). General Chemistry 1 (CHEM 111). General Psychology (Gen PSY 101). History (HIST 105). Math (Math 105). Sociology (SOCI 101). Theology (THEO 110). Required Qualifications: Must be enrolled as a Greenville University undergraduate student. Must be a full time, undergraduate student enrolled in 12+ credits (Except for second semester seniors). Must be a sophomore or above. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Must have received a B+ or higher in the selected course.
