Fall 2021 New Student Orientation 

Tentative Activities. These events are subject to change, be sure to check back for updates. 

Event

Description

Student Check In

All residential students will check in at their residence halls. They will receive a new student info packet with directions for the remainder of their day.  

Commuter students should check in at Greenville Central.

Lunch with Family and Friends

UNIV101/ENG101 Orientation

First class session for all students with their orientation course instructor; information on location and instructor will be inside the new student info packet.

THEO310 Orientation

First class session for transfer students with their orientation course instructor; information on location and instructor will be inside the new student info packet.

New Student Convocation & Ivy Planting Ceremony

Convocation service engages new students to help them prepare for the Ivy Planting Ceremony which is an annual GU tradition that occurs every New Student Orientation.

Dinner

Student ID required. 

New Student Event

New Student Experience

Participate in the annual New Student Experience with your orientation class.

Teacher Education Orientation Meeting

Students planning to pursue a major in the field of education for the sake of becoming teachers must attend this orientation meeting.

Welcome Back Event for All Students

Morning Worship

The first worship service of the semester with staff, faculty, and fellow students; you can also connect with church leaders from the community.

Transfer/ReAdmit Schedule Review

If you are a transfer or readmitted student, attend this event to make any final judgments to your schedule for the Fall. Students planning to attend will need to RSVP. Please find additional information in your welcome packet.

This event connects all parts of our GU community together – meet the faculty and staff you’ll be seeing for this semester and continue bonding with your peers.
