Music, B.A. Overview

Bachelor of Arts in Music candidates may choose a concentration in instrumental (non-piano), voice, or composition.  Our student-to-faculty ratio allows for intensive, hands-on learning that enables our students to flourish in their chosen area of musical study.

Instrumental (non-piano) concentration:  Music, B.A.

Instrumental students take courses in applied lessons in addition to the core music courses.

 Voice concentration:  Music, B.A.

Voice students take courses in vocal pedagogy and literature, and foreign language diction in addition to the core music courses.

 Composition concentration:  Music, B.A.

Composition students take courses in applied composition, music technology, form & analysis, orchestration, in addition to the core music courses.

Greenville’s B.A. in Music degree is an exceptional staging ground for a myriad of future opportunities. For some, it is a stepping-stone to a graduate degree in a very specific field such as ethnomusicology or choral conducting. For those with a focus in composition, there are prospects in the business world - whether it’s something as simple as composing jingles or as momentous as writing scores for upcoming video games and movies.
