Audio Engineering Major Overview

The Audio Engineering major plunges you into the high-tech world behind the music we all listen to while delivering a hands-on practical experience.

Because adapting to the needs of the students future benefit is our core belief, exciting changes have been implemented to broaden the base of skills for students. These changes include the following: major growth in Live Audio, touring (working seamlessly with performing groups from the Commercial Music major) as well as audio for web, TV, film, radio and streaming.

Hands-On Practical Experience

You will gain a hands-on practical experience by leading weekly rehearsals, connecting seamlessly with the Commercial and Worship Arts ensembles, Lab Bands, Fusion, Rock Ensembles, Singer/Songwriters, solo artists and live audio for chapel and Vespers. The groups perform on and off campus more than 170 times per year—all led by the students with direct and indirect supervision. In the recording studios, the students have great access to do projects in various styles of production:

  • Studio A which boasts a vintage Neve V3 fully analog console Studios A, B, C and E are full Pro Tools HD systems complemented by Studio D
  • Pro Tools systems in the Music Production Lab
  • The Recital Hall
  • The Blackroom (along with the Avid Live Audio console)
  • The brand new RedNet systems

The tools are here. The opportunity is here with many hands-on practical opportunities. If you are interested in the vast areas of Audio Engineering, you should be here too.
