The day you've been waiting for is nearly here - your first day as a student at Greenville University!

We can't wait to welcome you to campus during New Student Orientation. Below you will see the schedule of exciting events we have in store for you during your first week here. 6:00am - 2:00pm     Pre-Season Athletic Practices 

Times to be determined by specific coaches.

9:00am - 11:00am   START HERE! Check-In Begins

Residential students - Proceed to your residence hall!  There will be Community Life Staff, Admissions Counselors, and a Baggage Brigade to help unload your car and carry your belongings to your room.

                                 Commuter Check-In: ARMINGTON CENTER: GREENVILLE CENTRAL

11:00am - 2:00pm   Check-In Continues ARMINGTON CENTER: GREENVILLE CENTRAL

All students arriving after 11:00am will need to check-in at Greenville Central, regardless of housing status.

9:00am - 12:00pm   Campus Resource and Opportunities Fair SCOTT FIELD

Please stop by to enter door prizes, pick up your parking pass, and find out about various opportunities and ways to be involved for the semester and year. If you are interested in Music, Student Government, Campus Clubs, and local town resources such as banks and discounts at local shops, you will want to take a break from setting up your room and stop by the fair to get plugged in.

10:00am - 2:00pm   Choral Ensemble Auditions WHITLOCK MUSIC CENTER: ROOM  203

If you would like to join one of the Greenville University choral ensembles, you must complete a choral audition. Sign up for an audition time at Room 203 in Whitlock Music Center. Contact: Dr. Jeff Wilson, Director of Choral Studies, Phone: (618) 664-6561, E-mail:

This needs to be done well in advance of the first day of classes in order to be either in the correct course with its required textbook or in a studio.

11:30am - 1:00pm   Transfer and Readmit Lunch: ARMINGTON CENTER: KROBER ROOM

Transfer and readmit students (bring your ID!) are invited to a special luncheon in which you can meet and talk with faculty in your chosen major and review your schedule.

12:00pm - 1:30pm   Freshman Lunch: ARMINGTON CENTER: DINING COMMONS (DC)

New freshmen (bring your ID!) and their families should proceed to "the DC" for lunch. Parents/Guests, please use the complimentary meal tickets provided.

2:00pm - 3:30pm     Students: CORE 101/301 Courses MEET BY CORE CLASS ASSIGNMENT

This is the beginning of your CORE experience. You will meet your NSO CORE faculty instructor and take your first academic steps as a college student.

                                 Parent's Orientation and Q&A WHITLOCK MUSIC CENTER: RECITAL HALL

Dr. Ivan Filby, GU President, will open with a discussion of the role of integration of faith and learning in a faith-based institution, and elaborate on the Greenville University experience. Parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of key administrators and faculty.

3:30pm - 4:00pm     Parents Meet with CORE Instructors BY CORE CLASS ASSIGNMENT

4:15pm - 5:00pm     New Student Convocation WHITLOCK MUSIC CENTER: WILSON RECITAL HALL

This session will serve as the first formal gathering of new freshmen and transfer students.

5:00pm - 5:30pm     Ivy Planting Covenant Service SCOTT FIELD

In this symbolic ceremony, President Ivan Filby will welcome new students into the Greenville University community, allowing parents to prayerfully entrust their children to us. This is the final family event of the NSO schedule. Parents will have time to say goodbye to their student(s) following the Ivy Planting Ceremony.

6:00pm - 9:00pm     Annual Alumni Soccer Extravaganza SOCCER FIELDS

Come support GU Athletics! Bring your student ID to get a delicious tailgate dinner!  Half-time show by our own GU Panther Corps Marching Band
Note: CORE 101 instructors - please come to the game with your CORE Group.  
Shuttlers run from Ganton Circle starting at 5:30pm

Come and join in the fun as the Greenville University Student Association (GUS) and the Community Life Staff offer free soda floats in a Greenville University mug.

11:00pm                   Fellowship at the Burritt Fire Pit

Find fellowship and friends at the Burritt Fire Pit, located on the north end of Burritt Hall.

SUNDAY, AUGUST 28th, 2016

10:00am                   Morning Worship WHITLOCK MUSIC CENTER: WILSON RECITAL HALL

This morning's worship service marks the first time the new class will gather together for worship. There will be lots of singing, sharing and a special time of Communion as we invite Christ to be present and guide us in all we do this year.

4:30pm - 6:00pm     CORE Group Meetings BY CORE CLASS ASSIGNMENT

5:30pm - 6:30pm     Dinner ARMINGTON CENTER: DINING COMMONS

6:30pm - 8:30pm     Departmental Dessert SCOTT FIELD

This traditional event begins promptly at 6:30pm on Scott Field where you will gather and divide up by department to meet your professors and upperclassmen representatives, and then join together for dessert and fellowship.

MUEN 144/344 Touring Ensemble and MUEN 164/364 Worship Arts Ensemble will consist of the groups that play on a regular basis for the weekly Chapel services and will also travel to outside schools or churches. We are looking for the following members: singers (male and female in contemporary styles), acoustic, electric and bass guitar players, piano/keyboard, drummers, and other instrumentalists such as alternate percussion and string players.

8:30am                     New Student Orientation adventure with GUSA DINING COMMONS

This annual new student day of community and connecting will begin with breakfast at 7:15, followed by an orientation where you will learn about the plans that GUSA has for this exciting all-day adventure around campus and in St. Louis. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes! Lunch and dinner will be provided.

This session is for students who did not take the Spanish Placement Exam online this summer or who wish to take an additional test in order to waive the foreign language requirement for the Bachelor of Arts Degree. Also, those who have been notified they need to take the Math Placement Exam and have not taken it may do so at this time.

Enjoy a dinner served BBQ style out on Scott Field (bring your student ID). Interact with old and new friends as you join in the fun and activities planned by the Greenville University Student Association (GUSA) and the Campus Activities Board (CAB).

9:30pm - 10:30pm   Vespers Kick-Off WHITLOCK MUSIC CENTER
