GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College men's cross country team hopes to build on its fourth place showing at the SLIAC championships a year ago as they enter the 2013 season. The team will blend experienced returners with incoming underclassmen this season.Seniors Josh Dees and Bryant Simpson are 2013's top retainersand projected to lead the host of Panthers in competition this year. When asked who he thought would contribute for the Panthers this season, Coach Patton had some key runners in mind."Josh Dees has prepared himself very well to make the most of his senior campaign, " Patton explained. "Returners Dees, Bryant Simpson, Ray Hingson and Ben Barber have all looked good early and I look for them to lead us as well."While the veteran runners will be key for the team, the incoming freshman look to have a bright future at Greenville.
"We have nice group of newcomers that are in the learning curve currently of understanding how important summer running is. They will be a good group but we can't rush their fitness at this point."The 2013 season opener was cancelled due to the heat, so Greenville will compete in four meets culminating in itsSaturday, Nov. 2, conference showdown in Hillsboro, Ill. The NCAA Division III regional is slated forSaturday, Nov. 16, at Augustana.
