Women's Track Takes 4th at True Blue Meet

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.-- The GC women's track and field team finished 4th out of 20 teams at Illinois College on Saturday, April 27. Taylor Brunner and Maggie McMurtrey led the Panthers in the meet with impressive performances in their respective events.

Brunner earned 23.5 points for Greenville, finishing in the top 5 in the 5 events she competed in. Brunner's best performance came in the Javelin Throw where she finished 3rd with her throw of 34.30m. She earned 4th place in both the Long Jump, sailing a distance of 4.66m, and the High Jump, with a final distance of 1.45m. Brunner also had an impressive finish in the Triple Jump, where she lept 10.00m to land her in the 5th place spot. She also 5th in the 100 Meter Hurdles, finishing in 16.64.

McMurtrey also had a successful meet, coming in 2nd in the Hammer Throw and 4th in the Discus Throw. She launched the hammer 47.56m to earn 8 points for GC. Her 36.44m throw of the discus added another 5 points for the Panthers.

Ali Potthast, Amanda Muehlberg, Haley Fahnstrom, and GC's 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams also helped Greenville reach their total of 54.50 points. Potthast and Muehlberg both finished in the top 8 in the Javelin Throw and Fahnstrom earned 5th place in the Discus Throw.

The team will compete again Thursday, May 2 in the NCCAA National Championships.
