Women’s Soccer Edged 3-2 by Principia in 2OT Thriller

Published: April 13, 2021

ELSAH, Ill. Principa College scored with 1:03 left in 2OT to serve the women of GC their second loss in 12 contests and outdistance the Black & Orange for the SLIAC crown Wednesday night.

With serious conference implications on the line, both teams refused to back down as a 2-2-regulation deadlock forced the match into two extended sessions. A Prin clincher with just over a minute left in the second overtime would decide the tightly contested SLIAC battle, and give the women of GC the tough defeat.

With the loss Greenville womens soccer moves to 13-6 (6-2 SLIAC) and finished a successful 2011 regular season as one of the top squads in the SLIAC.

GC has clinched a birth into the 2011 SLIAC Tournament and will look to extend their season on Thursday, November 3 in Semifinal action, and follow with the Championship game on Saturday, November 5.
