Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. GC womens soccer put on a show in their home opener Wednesday afternoon, netting seven goals in front of the GC faithful.

Three women notched double-digit goals in the early season matchup, helping Greenville College womens soccer advance to 3-1 in 2011. GC was led by senior forward Jamie Hoag who posted two goals on two shot attempts with an assist.

In first half play forward Natalie Henneberry struck first for the Panthers, netting her chance under a minute into the match. Greenville would continue to pour it on HSU as Hoag registered back-to-back goals in the 10th and 23rd minutes of first frame action. Senior Rachel Zahniser and freshman Haley Thatcher would also add goals before the half to stretch the margin to 5-0 at intermission.

The second half proved to be much of the same for the GC womens squad as Henneberry would add her second goal of the game in the 70th minute on an assist from Hoag to push the lead to 6-0. Zahniser closed the afternoon tilt with a strike in the 81st minute on an assist from Jen Williams to give the Panthers the decisive 7-0 victory.

Collectively the women outshot Harris Stowe University 17-3 displaying offensive dominance throughout the match.

Womens Soccer will again take the field Tuesday, September 13 as they travel to Decatur, Ill. to play Millikin at 5:00 pm.
