Published: April 13, 2021

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The women's basketball team came into Tuesday's matchup leading the SLIAC in scoring defense, only allowing 52.8 points per game, but it was the Lady Golden Eagles of Spalding University that stole the show with an 80-57 win. The Lady Panthers (6-3, 1-1 SLIAC) got solid performances from Stacey Lawrence and Katelyn Wise who each sank 16 points in the losing effort.

The first half showcased a tight battle between Greenville and Spalding as both teams traded baskets for most of the first half. The Lady Panthers got a solid first period performance from Lawrence who posted 11 points and helped place the Panthers only a point behind the home team going into halftime.

Greenville stumbled in the second half as a 14-4 run by Spalding stunted the Panthers. The Golden Eagles would not look back as they forced 25 Greenville turnovers and applied constant pressure on their way to a 47 point second half performance and an 80-57 victory.

Spalding was led by Lauren Reed who scored a game high 21 to go along with eight rebounds in the Golden Eagles home win.

The Lady Panthers will return to action Thursday as they host the Eureka College Lady Red Devils at 6 p.m.
