Women’s Basketball Clipped by Turnovers at North Park, Falls 76-52

CHICAGO, Ill. GC womens basketball was dealt a tough road loss Tuesday night, as they were downed 76-52 by North Park University in Chicago.

Greenville freshman Courtney Cole led all Panther scorers with 10 points on 2-for-4 shooting from the floor and a 6-for-6 effort from the stripe. Cole, who only registered 14 minutes of play in the contest, also added four boards and a blocked shot in the defeat.

As a unit Greenville struggled to gain any momentum offensively, bogged down by 35 turnovers and a 15-for-47 (31%) shooting night from the floor. The visiting squad was also ineffective from long-range, hitting only 1-of-9 from deep.

Three consecutive three pointers served the Vikings of North Park an early margin, and the hosts never lost the lead as they posted a 14-3 advantage in the first three minutes. Park led 40-25 at halftime and later built their lead to as much as 29 in the second half, as they rolled to the 76-52 win.

Greenville College womens basketball (2-6, SLIAC 0-2) will look to gain some momentum as they return home on Friday, December 9 to battle St. Mary-of-the-Woods College in the Panther Paws for Poverty Classic. The contest is slated for 6:00 pm, and will be the first of two games that the women will compete in this weekend.
