Women's track and field places third at Greenville Select

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's track and field team earned 103.5 points in their third place showing at the Greenville Select meet. Lia Kruse and Chelsea Gilles were Greenville's event winners.

Kruse clocked a 20:14 in the 5000 meter run as she won the race by over one minute.

Gilles was the winner in the 400 meter dash as her time of 55.9 seconds nipped Washington University's runner by seven hundredths of a second.

Greenville posted two second place marks.

Janisha Pealer placed second in the long jump with a mark of 5.26 meters (17-3.25), just four and a quarter inches away from the top position.

Greenville's 4x100 meter relay used the efforts of Gilles, Alex Gregory, Jalisa Casey, and Josie Muniania to record a race of 49.06 seconds in their second place showing.

Shirley Estes picked up six points for Greenville with a time of 13:44 in the 3000 meter steeplechase as she was third.

The Lady Panthers travel to Rose-Hulman for a meet on Friday.
