Women's track and field places 17th at NCCAA nationals

ROME, Ga. -- The women's track and field team finished 17th at the NCCAA nationals as they racked up 11 team points.

Chelsea Gilles was fifth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 57.26 seconds. She had been fourth in the prelims with a 56.98. She earned four points.

Abby Hill received four points for Greenville when she was fifth in the hammer throw with a toss of 46.69 meters (153-2).

Greenville's 4x100 meter relay team including Iyeesha Deberry, Alex Gregory, Josie Muniania, and Gilles was seventh overall with a time of 49.17 seconds in an effort that added two points.

Monica Niebrugge rounded out Greenville's scoring with eighth place in the heptathlon. Niebrugge scored 2,211 points in the seven events.

The Lady Panthers will continue their season as individuals will attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division III nationals at last chance meets throughout the midwest.
