Women's Soccer drops Iowa Wesleyan

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's soccer team rolled on Saturday, taking an 8-0 Homecoming victory over Iowa Wesleyan. The Lady Panthers scored three times in the first half and five in the second. Senior Kieley Leach produced two goals and one assist.

Peppering Iowa Wesleyan with 44 shots, the contest was never in question. Mackenzie Burris added two goals for Greenville.

Single goals were posted by Taylor Purkey, Barbaro Nigro, Melissa Gallardo, and Jewellene Shortell. Gallardo and Lexi Baysinger each had an assist.

Goalkeeper Hope Brakenhoff picked up a shutout, but she was never tested.

Greenville scored on 3-of-17 shots on goal in the first half and concluded the game with goals on 50 percent of their shots on goal in the second half. Greenville saw its team score on 5-of-10 second half shots on goal.

The Lady Panthers were led with six shots on goal by Sara Palombo. Leach totaled four shots on goal.

Greenville (3-10-4, 2-2-3 SLIAC) host Webster on Tuesday at 5 p.m. in its final home match of the season.
