GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The Greenville College women's cross country team enters the 2013 season hoping to improve on its fifth place finish at the SLIAC championships from one year ago.  The Panthers will be headlined by top returner Molly Works, a sophomore of New Athens, Ill.
Works completed her first collegiate season as Greenville's leading female runner, placing 14th at the conference championships in route to a second team all-conference honor.
Five of Greenville's number top seven runners in 2012 return, paced by senior Rosie Nelson Baker, junior Jessica Przybylski, and sophomores Taylor Thomas and Bailey Keim.
Head coach, Brian Patton is excited to see what is in store for his team this season. He knows his team came in prepared for 2013.
"I am proud of them, " Patton said. "We had some ladies do a real nice job this summer getting ready for the season."
Coach Patton is also happy with the team dynamics this year.

"We have a lot of parity in talent which is helping in practice and will help on race day, " he explained. "We have a smart hard working group of young ladies."
The women were scheduled to open their season at the Gateway Dual in St. Louis, Mo., on Friday, Aug. 30, but the event was cancelled because of high temperatures.  Other meets this year include participation at Olivet Nazarene, Augustana, Louisville, and Bradley before its SLIAC championships in Hillsboro, Ill., on Saturday, Nov. 2.  The Panthers compete at the NCAA Division III midwest regional on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Augustana.
