Women's Basketball knocks off Westminster

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The women's basketball team evened their early season conference record at 1-1 with their first victory over Westminster since January 2008. Sophomore Taylor Paulin was the game's leading scorer with 12 points as Greenville won 50-40.
Greenville led 24-13 at the intermission and won the rebounding battle with a 48-38 margin.
Freshman Kelly Lenz was Greenville's leader with eight rebounds. Sophomore Claire Schmitt passed out six assists, and junior Coley Baker collected seven blocked shots.
Greenville outshot Westminster by over 10 percent, hitting 19-of-52 shots for a 36.5 percent average. The Lady Panthers knocked down 3-of-16 three pointers and 9-of-16 free throws.
Kayla Hyde and Lenz chipped in seven points apiece.
The Lady Panthers (2-3, 1-1 SLIAC) host Robert Morris Springfield on Friday at 8 p.m. in the second game of its Greenville tournament.
