Volleyball Upset by Principia in Conference Semis

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The volleyball team fell behind early but battled back as they fell short in a five-set loss Saturday afternoon in the SLIAC tournament semifinals. Despite having defeated Principia twice this season, the Panthers were unable to complete the trifecta.

Greenville lost the first two sets by two points before taking the third set by three. After a dominating fourth set that saw Greenville win by 13, Principia took the deciding set 15-11.

Corinne Coon ended her Greenville career with a 17-kill performance in her final outing. Nicole Schaeffer posted 14 kills. On the defensive side, Jamie Schollenbruch tallied 29 digs, while teammate Ellen Lueking racked up 25 digs. Savannah Sells was busy at the net with a hand in five blocks.

The Panthers ended their season with an overall record of 24-7. Webster won the tournament championship with a three-set win over Principia. Greenville completed their season as the outright league champion with a conference mark of 17-1.
