Volleyball tops Spalding and Westminster

FULTON, Mo. The volleyball team kept its perfect conference record alive with two four-set wins on Saturday. Greenville defeated Spalding in the opener and capped the day with a win over Westminster.

In the Spalding match, Nicole Schaeffer and Allyson Mitchell each contributed to 19 points as Mitchell led the duo with 18 kills and a service ace while Schaeffer added 16 kills, a service ace, and two solo blocks.

Savannah Sells picked up 14 points on 14 kills.

Joelle Scholten and Jamie Schollenbruch led Greenville with 22 digs each. Schaeffer was close behind with 18 digs.

Ellen Lueking provided the assist on 59 of Greenvilles 60 kills.

Greenville won the match with set scores of 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23.

Westminster gave Greenville all it could handle in the second match as the Lady Panthers rolled to a dominating 25-11 win in the first set and took the second set 25-22. The third and fourth sets were only separated by two points as Westminster won the third set with 27 points, and Greenville needed 27 points in the fourth set for the win.

Schaeffer was Greenvilles top performer, picking up 20 points on 18 kills, one service ace, one solo block, and one block assist.

Marissa Erwin tallied 18 points on nine kills, four service aces, three solo blocks, and five block assists.

Lueking had 45 assists, and Schollenbruch picked up 15 digs in the win.

The Lady Panthers (12-5, 7-0 SLIAC) host Principia on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
