Volleyball Tops Eureka in Straight Sets

EUREKA, Ill. -- Early in the season, the Greenville College women's volleyball team appears to be gelling.

The Lady Panthers (5-3, 1-0 SLIAC) urned in their best offensive performance of the season Tuesday night in Eureka, using just 59 minutes to beat their St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rivals in straight sets.

"We played great and really controlled the pace of the match," Lady Panthers Head Coach Tom Ackerman said. "Our offense was incredibly efficient and they didn't have an answer for all of our weapons."

Nine different Lady Panthers collected kills in the match as Greenville dominated on the offensive side of the net.

It went 43 for 80 in hitting attempts, a dynamic pace of .438 and nearly double the team's season average.

Greenville pounded the Red Devils 25-11 in the opening set and dodged Eureka's best effort, a .304 hitting percentage in set two, to win 25-17.

The Lady Panthers finished offthe sweep with a 25-12 win in set three.
