Volleyball splits Friday

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The volleyball team traveled to Illinois Wesleyan for two matches Friday. They lost 3-1 in the first match to the host and defeated Benedictine in three sets later.

The Panthers came out firing on all cylinders in their match against Illinois Wesleyan, taking the first set 25-23. The Titans rattled off three straight set victories to take the win.

Allyson Mitchell posted 16 kills and three service aces in the match. Ellen Lueking had 21 assists.

Jamie Schollenbruch was the defensive leader with 28 digs, and Sierah Ruffner had two block assists.

In the second match of the evening, Greenville rolled in a three-set win over Benedictine.

Nicole Schaeffer led Greenville's offense with 11 kills. Lueking tallied 17 assists.

Schollenbruch delivered 39 digs, and Ruffner posted three block assists.

The Lady Panthers (3-3) face Coe and Lake Forest in Bloomington on Saturday.
