Published: April 13, 2021

ELSAH, Ill. The volleyball team (16-5, 9-1 SLIAC) dug deep Saturday, Oct. 9, to edge out Spalding University (17-7, 10-1 SLIAC) in a 3-2 nail-biter and claim a share of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's top spot.

Greenville downed the Golden Eagles in the first set 25-13 behind a kill percentage of .320.

Spalding turned the tables in the second however, taking a 25-18 set win.

Greenville and Spalding split the third (25-17) and fourth (25-19) set to force a decisive fifth set.

In the fifth set, both teams showed no signs of surrender. The Panthers posted six kills and the Golden Eagles tallied seven in what was a very even finale. In the end, Greenville mounted enough of an attack to defeat Spalding 15-13.

Saturdays win extends the Panthers win streak to eight, and improves their overall record to 16-5 overall and 9-1 in SLIAC play.
