ELSAH, Ill. GC volleyball used a monster 15-kill fourth set to down SLIAC foe Principia 3-1 on Tuesday night in Elsah, Ill.

Freshman standout Nicole Schaeffer once again headlined the Black & Oranges offensive efforts, blasting 18 kills in the match and helping Greenville clinch their second conference win of 2011.

Collectively the visiting Panthers posted 46 kills and a .254 kill percentage in the 25-19, 23-25, 25-22, 25-22 win.

Both Schaeffer and sophomore Taylor Brunner exploded in the fourth set, each notching six kills on six attempts to help bury the opposition.

Though we didnt play our best tonight, we are definitely happy with the road victory, commented head coach Tom Ackerman. Winning a match like this tonight is something championship teams are made of.

With the road win volleyball improves to 7-4 (2-1 SLIAC), and will look to repeat Tuesdays performance as they again face Principia on Saturday, September 24 on the campus of Eureka College. Greenville will play PC at 12:00 pm and turn back around at 2:00 pm to battle Fontbonne University.
