Volleyball Takes Match Against MacMurray, Clinches League Championship

JACKSONVILLE, Ill.-- The Lady Panthers traveled to MacMurray for their last regular season match of 2013 and swept the Highlanders 3-0. The victory means that Greenville confirms the team's first place finish in the SLIAC.

The team swept the match in three sets with scores of 25-19, 25-16, and 25-13.

Corinne Coon led the Panther offense with 12 points on 10 kills and a service ace. Savannah Sells and Nicole Schaeffer each added 8 points for GC. Sells recorded 5 kills and Schaeffer had 7 kills and 10 digs. Ellen Lueking had 31 assists and 10 digs. Libero, Jamie Schollenbruch was credited with 18 digs.

The win improves the Panthers record to 24-6 (17-1 SLIAC). The impressive record means that the team clinched their first outright league championship and their 4th SLIAC first place finish in 4 years.

The women willhost the Conference volleyball tournament with matches at 2 p.m., 4 p.m., and 7 p.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium on Saturday, November 9, in Greenville.
