Softball offense too much for Eureka

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The softball team jumped out to an early lead on Eureka College and captured an 11-2 victory on Wednesday in Greenville.

Six runs in the first three innings allowed the Panthers to put the game away early.

An RBI single by Danielle Helms and a three-run double by Anaya Tobiason during the first inning fueled the Panthers' offense early.

Tobiason racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Panthers.

Becca Oldham's five strikeouts were enough to push the Panthers past Eureka College. Oldham allowed two earned runs, six hits and one walk over six innings.

Margaret Schwab took the loss for Eureka College. She allowed 11 runs in five innings, walked seven and struck out two.

The Panthers piled on two more runs in the bottom of the third. A bases loaded walk scored Tobiason to get the Panthers on the board in the inning.

The Panthers pushed across one run in both the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, the Panthers scored on an RBI double by Helms , scoring Oldham.

The Panthers added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth. A scored Danielle to start the scoring in the inning. That was followed up by Bryn McKie's single, bringing home Tobiason and Tori Paulin.

Greenville's record improved to 11-5 (4-0 SLIAC). The team hosts Westminster on Saturday in Greenville in a Noon doubleheader.
