Seniors Lead Panthers to 62-27 Win Over Eureka

The 2010 senior class played in their final regular season game Saturday afternoon and finished with a scoring explosion. The Greenville College Panthers (7-3, 6-0 UMAC) scored eight touchdowns and kicked two field goals to record a season high 62 points. Greenville defeated the Eureka College Red Devils (1-8, 1-5 UMAC) 62-27. This was the Panthers sixth consecutive win and tenth straight UMAC win going back to 2009.

Senior running back Anthony Ambers (Apple Valley, CA) saved his best game for last rushing for 385 yards on 30 attempts and scoring 4 touchdowns. Quarterback Brendan Chambers (San Clemente, CA) played one half and went 7 for 10 with two touchdown passes and 185 yards. Junior tight ends Demontrez Simington (Atlanta, GA) and Rendell Flood (Flora, IL) were the recipients of Chambers touchdown passes.

The Panther defense was led by senior linebackers Joel Deayon (Los Angeles, CA) and Bryce Stevens (Bakersfield, CA) who led the team with 7 and 6 tackles respectively. Senior David Maurer (Greenville, IL) had the Panthers only interception of the day in the first quarter.

Eureka was down early and had to rely on their passing attack to close the deficit. Quarterback Sam Durley threw for 358 yards. The UMAC leading receiver Wes Schmidgall had a big day pulling down six receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

The Panthers freshman kicker Luis Diaz was 2 for 3 on the day striking on a 31 and 35 yard attempts.

The UMAC Champion Panthers are still in the running for both the NCAA playoffs and the NCAAA Victory Bowl.
