Published: April 13, 2021

Greenville College begins its 123rd academic year with a Convocation ceremony on Wednesday, August 27 at 9:30 a.m. in H.J. Long Gymnasium. Director of the Set Free Movement, Reverend Dr. Kevin Austin, will deliver an address titled Agents of Hope and Healing, engaging this years senior integrative topic: peace and reconciliation. He will present a colloquium at 3 p.m. in LaDue Auditorium.

As the director of the Set Free Movement and a leader in the Free Methodist Church, Austin works in partnership with faith communities, academic institutions and organizations to create and empower lasting and effective community-based action to address issues of modern day slavery. He brings over 18 years of experience working in cross-cultural ministry and collaborating with innovative organizations like World Relief, the Wesleyan Holiness Consortium, Not for Sale, and Youth with a Mission (YWAM). Austin completed his Master of Divinity degree in church history at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, Bachelor of Arts in Music and English with a minor in piano pedagogy from Seattle Pacific University and is currently working toward his Doctor of Ministry degree through Regent University.

The Convocation ceremony and colloquium are free and open to the public.
