GREENVILLE, Ill.--The Greenville College men's soccer team earned a 2-1 overtime win against Spalding University in their Conference Opener. GC junior, Spencer Pulliam, scored both goals for the Panthers.

Greenville got on the board first when Pulliam found the back of the net in the 53rd minute after a Panther free kick. Lucas Miller sent the ball deep into Spalding territory to Jacob Krisher, who touched it to Pulliam for the goal. Spalding equalized just four minutes later when Colin Peters scored. The game was tied 1-1 when the whistle blew signaling the end of regulation.

Both teams headed into overtime determined to earn the SLIAC win. GC captured the victory eight minutes into overtime when Pulliam received a pass from Jacob Krisher at the top of the box and slid it past the Spalding 'keeper.

"It was a much needed win," Panther Head Coach, Chris Swift said. "We have been battle-tested through our non-conference schedule and today was the 5th time we have gone into overtime. This was nothing new to us and we stepped up and got the win."

With this win, the Panthers' record moves to 2-5-3. They play again Tuesday, October 1, when they travel to Lindenwood-Belleville to take on the Lynx.
