Panther Football Outplays MacMurray

GREENVILLE, Ill.-- The Greenville Football team earned another UMAC win with a 34-27 victory against the MacMurray Highlanders.

Immanuel Gamble and Steven Glover both gained 117 rushing yards for GC, and Nathan Butler led in receiving yards with 52. Cody Hutchin and Bryan Waugh eachadded another 23 yards receiving for the Panthers.

Defensively, Greenville was strong as well. Kirk Pierce leadthe home team in tackles, with 7 total andBryce Wrightwas credited with 6.

Gamble scored the first touchdown of the game when he ran 5 yards. MacMurray answered just one minute later when Highlander Patrick Hall got MacMurray on the scoreboard. Brenden Chambers added another 6 points for GC when he ran 31 yards. At the end of the first quarter, MacMurray answered again when Deshonta Smallwood when he caughta 38 yard pass from Cody Hussey. This brought the score to 13-14 at the quarter.

The second quarter started with a 43 yard interception return from Wright. MacMurray's Smallwood caught another touchdown pass from Hussey with 3:45 left in the quarter. Greenville responded with another Gamble 4-yard run touchdown. At the half GC was up 26-21.

MacMurray scored the only points in the third quarter, with a 77 yard catch by Smallwood from Hussey. The Panthers closed the game in the fourth quarter with28 yard pass from Chambers to Waugh for the game's final touchdown to end the game 34-27.

This win brings the Panther's record to 3-2 (3-1 UMAC). They take to the field again on Oct. 13 when they play Martin LutherCollegeon the Knight's home turf.
