Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. The 2011 men's tennis squad looks prepared to build off their 2010 season success. Behind the first team all-conference tandem of Ian Wolf and Joe Newlin, the Panthers seem poised to make a run at the SLIAC title.

GC tennis returns the entirety of its squad from a year ago, including six all-conference selections, the SLIAC doubles champion, and an experienced team consisting of seven upperclassmen and three underclassmen.

Leading the Panthers into 2011 play is senior Joe Newlin and junior Ian Wolf. Newlin, an all-conference No. 1 singles honorable mention choice a year ago, will rejoin Wolf as they look to repeat as SLIAC doubles championsand spearhead a run at the conference title.

Joining Newlin and Wolf is a host of talented competitors that help round out the seasons squad. Seniors Jesse Shaw (all-conferenceNo. 4singles honorable mention) and Taylor Dunnington will look to build off of last year's all-conference No. 2 doubles honorable mention finish, while senior Brent Weidman, juniors Todd Ganton and Michael Read, and sophomore Jonathan Allen will add depth to the teams rotations.

Freshman newcomers Ryan Haas (Belleville, Ill.) and Austin Young (Houston, Texas) round out the squad, bringing their game to GC as part of the 2011 recruiting class for head coach Brett Brannon.

Mens tennis will open the 2011 season with Principia Colleges two-day invitational, traveling to Elsah, Ill. to compete Friday, Feb. 11 and Saturday, Feb. 12.
