HILTON HEAD, S.C., The Panthers dropped a 5-4 heartbreaker on Thursday in Hilton Head Island as Heidelberg slid past GC by the narrowest of margins.

The Black & Orange went 2-1 in doubles play, with both the No. 2 and 3 pairings picking up wins.

In singles it was freshmen Jordan Tingle and Alex Dowley picking up the victories in No. 2 and No. 4 action. Tingle recorded a 6-2, 6-1 win, while Dowley posted a tough 1-6, 6-2, 10-8 effort and equalized the margin into a 4-4 deadlock heading into the decisive final in No. 1 singles.

In No. 1 singles, Wolf battled hard against Heidelbergs Bobby Lochotzki in a 7-6, 7-4, 1-6, 10-5 super tiebreaker. Neither man budged an inch in the epic match, but Wolf was outpaced in the end and surrendered the No. 1 singles win to Lochotzki.

GC finishes their 2012 Spring Break road trip with a 2-1 record and now stands at 3-4 on the season. The Panthers will return to the courts on Wednesday, March 21 as they host Eureka College.
