Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Greenville College men's tennis posted a complete sweep of visiting Eureka College on Wednesday afternoon, as the Panthers rolled to an 8-0 win in their 2012 conference opener on the courts of the Scott J. Burgess Tennis Complex.

"This match was a big one for us moving forward," commented head coach Brett Brannon. "We were able to work in nearly every memeber of the team and grab some key wins that will help us down the road this season. I am very proud of our guys."

GC dominated the courts from first serve, sweeping doubles 3-0 behined a solid all-around team performance. The No. 1 doubles pair of Todd Ganton and Alex Dowley notched an 8-3 win, and the No. 2 tandem of freshman Reid Ganton and sophomore Ryan Haas followed their lead with an 8-0 clearing in the eight-game pro set. Greenville then wrapped up the shutout in No. 3's with the combination of first-year players Ryan Mulholland and Demetrius Bush earning the clutch varsity win with an 8-0 effort.

Singles action proved to showcase much of the same result as doubles competition as the Panther squad mimicked their early afternoon performance with another 5-0 sweep. Three Panthers earned their first career wins in the match while only dropped one game collectively. Freshmen Andrew Herlein and John Wilson picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 3 and No. 5 slots, and fellow underclassmen Evan Gregory won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.

With Tuesday's route men's tennis advances to 4-2 on the season and will host Fontbonne University tomorrow at 5:00 pm.
