Men’s Soccer Uses Strong Second Half to Down Eureka 8-0

Published: April 13, 2021

GREENVILLE, Ill. The Panthers put on a seven-goal second-half show Homecoming Saturday, as the mens squad rolled to an 8-0 victory over visiting Eureka College.

Senior David Dunlop led the Greenville mens squad with two goals on eight shots. Dunlops offensive efforts helped pace the Panthers to 30 shots and 11 corners to suffocate the opposition.

Junior Daniel Ruder also turned in an impressive performance in the Homecoming route. Ruder netted two goals on three shots in his limited minutes of play.

After a closely contested first half of play that only proved to serve GC with a 1-0 margin, the Panthers came out after intermission on fire. Greenville exploded with a seven-goal flurry that stifled the visiting Red Devils of Eureka, and ultimately clinched the 8-0 conference decision.

The GC men still cling to an unblemished 8-0 home record in 2011 and currently sit at 3rd in the SLIAC standings.

With the win GC mens soccer moves to 9-5-3 (4-1 SLIAC) and will next take the field October 18, as they travel to St. Louis for a pivotal conference match against Webster.
