NORMAL, Ill. -- The men's cross country team traveled to Illinois State University Friday and placed 17th of 29 teams in the college division of the Illinois Intercollegiate Championships.

Headlining Greenville's efforts was the 98th place mark of Nathan Young who ran 26:59 to cross the line first of Greenville's runners for the third straight race. Also contributing scoring marks were Josh Dees (124th, 27:27), Bryant Simpson (144th, 27:48), Ross Baker (155th, 28:08), and Raymond Hingson (157th, 28:13).

Two hundred seventy runners completed the race.

"This was the best race of the season," said head coach Brian Patton. "We still have a ways to go but it was a solid effort amongst quality competition."

Patton was particularly pleased with Hingson's mark in his first eight kilometer race.

The men return to action at Rhodes College on Saturday, Sept. 29.
