Published: April 13, 2021

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The men's basketball team dropped their third straight contest Tuesday as they failed to counter a strong second half performance from Spalding University in a 90-76 loss. Jonas McBride was the Panther's top contributor in the defeat, chipping in a season high 19 points while adding four rebounds and two steals.

Greenville (5-4, 1-1 SLIAC) came out firing on all cylinders, jumping out to a 42-34 first half lead. The Panthers sank 48.3 percent of their attempts from the field while netting 50 percent of their shots from behind the arc. K.J. Hilliard led the surge for the Panthers, posting 12 points and five rebounds.

The second half proved to be a much different story for the Greenville squad as the Golden Eagles blasted the Panthers with a debilitating 27-12 run. Spalding caught fire and shot over 60 percent in the second period to close the door and wrap up the 90-76 victory.

Spalding was led by Deshawn Curtis who posted 15 points to go along with his game high 12 rebounds.

Greenville will hit the court again January 6, as they will defend H.J. Long Gymnasium against conference foe Eureka College. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. and will be broadcast live on WGRN 89.5 FM.
