Men's Track and Field Wins Illinois Wesleyan Titan Open

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The men's track and field team used four event championships and five third place marks to gather 97 points and tie Lincoln for the team title at the Illinois Wesleyan Titan Open on Saturday. Bruce Gray was the winner of the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, Josh Kuusisto won the weight throw, and the distance medley team also finished first.

Gray, the Panther headliner of the day, sped to first place times in the 60 (6.8 seconds) and 200 (22.40 seconds). He posted the best times in the preliminary heats for both events.

Kuusisto outthrew the second place Derek Seddon of William Penn by over six feet with his dominating throw of nearly 58 feet (57-11.75).

The distance medley relay team of Ray Hingson, Branden Niehaus, Nathan Allyn, and Ben Barber competed their event in 11:19.48 to win by almost 35 seconds.

Third place marks were achieved by six Panther entries. Dmitri Holman ran the 200-meter dash in 23.05 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Niehaus, Josh Dees, Jonah Peoples, and Holman completed the event in 3.37.55. Anthony Yates vaulted 12-5.5 in the pole vault. Dajuan Johnson heaved the shot put 42-4, and Bryan Waught had a throw of 46-2.75 in the weight throw.

The Panthers continue their season on Friday and Saturday as men will travel to both Illinois Wesleyan and Illinois College.
