Men's Track and Field Racks Up Three First Place Finishes at Illinois Wesleyan

Published: April 13, 2021

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The men's track and field team returned to action Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan and saw first place performances in three events. Bruce Gray won the 60-meter and 200-meter dashes, and Josh Kuusisto was champion of the weight throw.

After racing 7.00 seconds in the preliminaries, Gray improved in the finals as he finished in 6.91 seconds. This mark is currently third best in the NCAA Division III. He also rattled off a 22.51 second race in the 200 to take first and is currently ranked second in the nation in that event.

Kuusisto outdistanced his next competitor by over eight feet as he threw 57-0.25. He is currently 10th in the nation in the event based upon a distance from a previous meet.

Taking third place at the meet were three Panthers. Bryan Waugh threw the weight 46-3.25 in his third place performance. Josh Garcia earned third in the 200-meter dash (23.24 seconds) and also placed third in the 60-meter dash (7.1 seconds).

The Panthers will compete again on Friday and Saturday as they send students to Indiana University and Illinois College.
