Men's track and field dominates SLIAC Invitational

GREENVILLE, Ill. -- The men's track and field team gained 13 championships as they captured the SLIAC invitational championship on Saturday.

Andrew Sharp was the top runner in the 400 with a time of 48.85 seconds. Sharp also won the 800 in 1:56.49, surging in the final 50 meters to take the victory.

John Mangold was the 1500 winner with a race of 4:01.42.

Treyvon Manning finished the 400 meter hurdles in 55.42 seconds in his event winning time. Manning also cleared 1.98 meters in his high jump win.

Both of Greenville's relays were winners. The 4x100 meter relay included Taylor Moeller, Manning, Jarrid Williams, and Hamid Camara and finished in 43.16 seconds. Sharp, Manning, Nathan Potts, and Matt Hughes gave Greenville the win in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:20.72.

Williams was a winner in both the long jump and triple jump. He earned a mark of 6.82 meters in the long jump, and a distance of 13.91 meters in the triple jump.

Dajuan Johnson gained the shot put title with a final of 14.11 meters.

Mitchell Hooten was the discus throw winner as he posted a distance of 41.15 meters.

Ryan Burgess won the hammer throw with his attempt of 47.13 meters.

Phil Wilsman picked up his first championship in the javelin with a throw of 45.42 meters.

Qualifying members of the team will compete in Rome, Ga., at the NCCAA championships next weekend.
