Men's tennis earns second at SLIAC tournament

BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The men's tennis team was defeated 5-3 by Principia on Saturday in the championship of the SLIAC tournament as senior Justin McDonald contributed to two of the three wins.
The Panthers fell behind 2-1 after doubles play. They were led by the winning efforts of Code Power and Justin McDonald in No. 3 doubles as the pair completed an undefeated conference record.
Greenville tied the match at 2-2 when Justin McDonald won 6-0, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
Principia went back ahead by one with a win at No. 2 singles, but No. 5 Alex Dowley tied it 3-3 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Principia recorded the clinching matches with wins in No. 3 and No. 4 singles.
After the match, senior Demetrius Bush was presented with the SLIAC sportsmanship team honor for Greenville.
Greenville ended their season at 14-6 (3-1 SLIAC).
