HILTON HEAD, S.C. -- As an evening fog rolled in off of the Atlantic Ocean at the end of another sun splashed day on Hilton Head Island, the mens tennis team defeated North Central 8-1 to complete the men's tennis team's first perfect Spring Break trip since 1995.

The Panthers looked tight at the beginning of doubles play as they were down on all three courts. The Panthers ended up dropping the No. 2 doubles spot by a score of 8-5 but quickly bounced back with an 8-5 victory on the No. 3 court. The No. 1 doubles team of Jon Urshan and Alex Dowley started slow and were trailing 7-5, but rallied for a 9-7 victory.

As action moved to singles, Greenville proved to be too strong for the Cardinals. The Panthers gained victories at all six singles spots.

The most dominant performance came at the No. 2 spot from freshman Nate Wieland. He gained a 6-1, 6-0 victory to get things rolling for the Panthers. Urshan at the No. 1 spot was the next off court with his second consecutive impressive performance as he won 6-0, 6-2.

Code Power finished the week with a perfect 10-0 record in singles and doubles. He competed at the No. 3 and No. 4 singles spots and No. 3 doubles.

"This was a truly remarkable week in the history of GC tennis," said head coach Brett Brannon. "On the court, this team did something that hasnt been done in two decades. Off the court, they became the most cohesive team that I have coached in my 15 years. We have an unselfish group of guys that truly understand team and leadership. It is a humble group that knows there is still much work to be done. And I am confident that they will work as hard as they can, to ensure that we will reach our full potential."

The Panthers' record now stands at 7-2. They travel to Illinois Wesleyan for a match on Friday before facing Millikin and Fontbonne at Millikin on Saturday.
