ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The men's soccer team became acquainted with their upcoming SLIAC tournament semifinal opponent as they lost 3-1 at Webster on Saturday.

Greenville allowed two first half goals to enter halftime trailing by a 2-0 margin.

Josh Ripperger posted Greenville's goal with less than three minutes remaining as he was assisted by Edgar Bueno.

"We came out horribly flat, and Webster took advantage of that in the first half," said head coach Chris Swift. "We are developing a dangerous habit of starting slowly and we need to fix it or out season is going to be over. You have to give Webster credit, their season was on the line today and they played like it."

"The second half was a different story. Jonathan Adams came in and gave us a bit of life and we competed for the second 45. It's unfortunate that our goal came so late because there was so little time to find the equalizer, and they got the third after we committed so many numbers forward."

"Now we get to see Webster again, but this time at home. If we come out to play like we did in the second half we have every chance of making the final, but we have to make sure we don't dig ourselves a hole early in the match."

The Panthers (10-9, 7-2 SLIAC) host Webster at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the SLIAC tournament.
