Men's basketball holds on for win at Fontbonne

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The men's basketball team kept up with Spalding for the first place mark in the SLIAC as the Panthers held on for a 74-70 win at Fontbonne on Wednesday. Greenville got 16 points and three steals from Tim Daniel.

Greenville held a 16 point lead wth 11:03 remaining in the game, but Fontbonne cut the deficit to 2 on two occasions in the final minute. Greenville's Ron Harris and Elmo Smith combined to make 4-of-6 free throws in the last 60 seconds of the game.

Smith posted 12 points in the win. Harris and Stevonte Young added 11 points each.

Smith, Harris, and Nick Trisko posted six rebounds each.

The Panthers (9-5, 6-1 SLIAC) host MacMurray on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the conference's "Game of the Week".
